Lakota for Mammoth

IMG_6293.jpg

Hi, I’m Lakota Mikulich, born and raised right here in Mammoth Lakes and in the Eastern Sierras. I’ve spent my life in these mountains: hiking the trails, climbing peaks, playing in the snow, and exploring with my dog by my side. If I’m not working, there’s a good chance you’ll find me outside, playing around in the mountains that raised me.

This town has given me more than good days outdoors. I’ve worked the jobs that keep Mammoth running: mountain operations, restaurants, housekeeping, property management, hospitality etc... so, I understand what it takes to make a living here. There was a brief period when I did leave home for university. I studied journalism, then spent eight years working abroad in Kenya alongside NGOs, where I saw firsthand what happens when money is used well and what happens when it isn't.

I’m running for Town Council because I love this place too much to watch it become somewhere the people who built it can’t afford to stay in. I want to fight for workforce housing, protect the wild spaces (& critters) that make this town what it is, and bring a new generation of local leadership to the table.

This is home. Let’s take care of it, together.
